Window covers

There are many different types of window coverings on the market. Our MOVE products will fit most of them and motorizes your existing blinds and shades in an easy and affordable way.

The most common covering types are described below.

Curtains or drapes

Curtains (or drapes) are often mounted on the inside of a window to block sunlight out or let it in. In bedrooms curtains are used to make it dark before people go to sleep. Curtains can also block the view from neighbors or the street to bring privacy.

Curtains are made from a lot of different materials and can vary in thickness from very thin and almost translucent to thick and padded where light and wind are completely stopped. Besides the functional aspects curtains can have a design aspect where its colors and shape help to make a room more attractive.

In the market there is a great variety of sizes, colors and other properties such as cleanability, ultraviolet light deterioration, oil and dust retention, noise absorption, fire resistance depending upon what you need.

If the curtains are operated either by string or cord loop they can be motorized with MOVE.

Are made from a large piece of fabric that may have any color or pattern. Just as an ordinary drape or curtain the roman blinds are often used to enhance indoor design by bringing color into a room besides just blocking sunshine. Into the fabric horizontal rods are sewn in that divides the blind into smaller sections.

When a roman blind is fully open it looks smooth exactly like and ordinary curtain. The difference is that while an ordinary curtain may only be gathered left or right to change volume, roman blinds can be set to different heights by pulling a cord or bead chain. The roman blind will then stack itself together evenly and remain smooth as it is pulled together.

Roman blinds can be automated with MOVE.

Venetian blinds

Venetian blinds are made out of metal or plastic and consists of slats held together by rope. A venetian blind has two controls. One control which is usually a stick angles the slats to either block all sunshine or open to let sunshine in. The other control which is usually a rope is to lift all slats as a whole up or down. This rope can also be set to any position in between to partially block a window.

Venetian blinds are more restricted to the functional aspect of keeping sunlight away and restricting outside view. Venetian blinds doesn’t improve room design the same way a curtain or drape can.

We are proud to say that our MOVE product is the only retrofitting motor available for Venetian blinds. With MOVE you can control the blinds from your phone or tablet for increased comfort, protection of furniture against sunlight and enhanced indoor climate. You can select manually to operate your blinds or use the automation functionalities in the MOVE app.

Vertical blinds

Vertical blinds stand vertically and are often made quite thick of flat plastic (PVC), fabric, embossed PVC, faux wood materials, metal or wood. They draw to the side rather than lifting and lowering which makes them quicker and easier to operate.

Stationary vertical blinds can be hung in doorways of homes and businesses when a door is open to keep insects out while allowing some air to circulate. Another common application are cold rooms of food businesses where blinds slows the heat leakage into the cold room. Offices use blinds to keep sunshine out and bock the view in as a burglary deterrent.

With MOVE you can easily motorize your vertical blinds at home. Vertical blinds are generally operated with a bead chain and a cord loop for fully open/closed and tilt the lamellas. You will need one motor for each operating mechanism if you want total control over your vertical blind. *MOVE does not support a tilt wand.

The product is easily installed by yourself and you can control your vertical blinds in the MOVE Teptron app from your smartphone.
